Wedding March [Score Sheet]

The first music score to be posted on my website is the ever classical Bridal March. Every time that I will be asked to play for a wedding ceremony, this is my dilemma: practicing this piece, and I don’t get to play in such ceremonies quite often.

Composed by Felix Mendelssohn in 1842, the song was used as an incidental music for Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It was first used as a “bridal march” in 1847 when Dorothy Carew wed Tom Daniel at Tiverton, United Kingdom. It was popularized in 1858 when Victoria, The Princess Royal married Prince Frederick William of Prussia. Since then, this piece became the standard, so to speak, processional and recessional in wedding ceremonies.
